REPROSTAR
THE NEW STATE OF THE ART
Seminal plasma contains decapacitation factors that prevent spermatozoa from undergoing capacitation (1). Separation of seminal plasma from human sperm for ART is therefore essential. Sperm preparation using density gradient centrifugation usually results in a fraction of highly motile spermatozoa, free from debris, contaminating leucocytes, non-germ cells and degenerating germ cells (2). According to our current knowledge, colloidal density gradients must be considered the most appropriate and generally applicable clinical sperm preparation technique (3).
The new REPROSTAR density gradient system impressively facilitates both density gradient forming and harvesting of the separated sperm cell pellet. Additional wash steps are not needed because the REPROSTAR can minimize carry over from the gradient overlays.
The REPROSTAR technology was developed and established in a renowned Swiss Andrology Lab for Reproductive Medicine. It enables the reduction of centrifugation steps and results in high quality sperm used for ART. Secure handling leads to risk reduction for both the Lab technician and the patient.
